After over a decade in New York City, Amanda disconnected from city life to start a family in 2019 and reconnect with the natural world. Now, a local resident of Eufaula Alabama, she strives to use her creativity in arts and fashion to help others have a meaningful engagement with themselves and the world around them. Motherhood has inspired her most recent exploration in textile design playing with life longevity through discovering the true beauty of the natural world in natural dyeing with plants and flowers.
Amanda's knack for the arts started at an early age. In middle school she attended pre-college courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Every summer she went to art and fashion classes, including an art & design intensive in Italy, until she was accepted to Parsons School of Design at the age of 16. Skipping her senior year of high school to start at Parsons launched Amanda into NYC life for over a decade.
At Parsons School of Design Amanda studied under several prominent artists such as Jean Pierre Roy, Susan Cianciolo, Gabby Asfour, Pascale Gatzen, & Martha Wilson.
Among Amanda's career highlights -
Working with a popular girls clothing brand, Pink Chicken, which is known for taking inspirations from vintage textiles, beading, and embroidery from around the world.
Costuming film and television - with films starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Vince Vaughn, Marisa Tomei, among others; working in the costume departments for TV’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Kevin Can Wait, Sesame Workshop’s The Helpsters on AppleTV, and HBO’s series Betty.
After managing the wardrobe department at the Drama Desk Award winning off-broadway show Queen of the Night, which featured dancing, circus, and a food parade by food artist Jennifer Rubbell, Amanda became the resident Costume Designer at the nightlife variety experience, The Box. For many years Amanda dressed some of the most talented showgirls, circus performers, sideshow performers, and musicians in the world.
Some of Amanda’s favorite moments of her career have been a highlight in the New York Times featuring a local NYC based wizard wearing her costume design; showcasing her fashion designs and performace art at Williamsburg Fashion Weekend; costuming performers at Art Basel Miami; designing custom creations for events sponsored by Pierre Jouët; designing costumes for a one night only circus for the Formula One heiresses' birthday in Los Angeles; costume designing for a one time water themed performance for the One Drop foundation’s art auction at Phillips Auction House in NY.
She is now showing and selling her textile creations throughout the southeast. Taking part in notable art festivals like Kentuck Festival of the Arts in Tuscaloosa, AL - where she won a Merit Award in 2023. She's shown work at Bells Gallery in Dothan, AL and looks forward to sharing her work at the upcoming Fearrington Art Show in Fearrington, NC.
